Re: Text to numbers in CSV file, forumla popup

Ad. 1) This is correct. The returned value of such a formula is a text string/label so any further actions have to treat it initially as text. Why don't you use the "Edit > Convert Cells > Formula To Values" command for a given range of such formulas? Then you can use the "Edit > Con...

Text to numbers in CSV file, forumla popup

Two points here, one is not a bug- First , I've noticed when converting report numbers (all numeric) to a standard format using CONCATENATE, example: cell A2 is 12345 and cell B1 is 2015, I combine them as 201512345 I end up with a text output. Here's my process: After updating the column, I then co...

Filter function

I like this program and have used it extensively. It would be helpful to have a simple filter program vs requiring use of a cumbersome pivot table when the user is simply trying to filter some data. The help file for the pivot table is not clear as to how to use the [field, filter] function, as no ex...

Bug in fnd and replace v.15

I am using GS-Calc v. 15, 64 bit in Windows 7 Ultimate. I copied a calculated column of numbers and pasted w/o formula to a new worksheet so they would be standalone. Using find and replace to change some values, I found replacing 2 with 0 resulted in every number that contained a 2 turned into a 0,...

Re: Replacing duplicate record numbers

This can be disregarded. I simply added a 4-digit year to all existing record numbers via the concatenate function.

Replacing duplicate record numbers

I'm using GSC version 15, 64 bit. I have large csv files that have duplicate field numbers (they are called record numbers on the sheet), approximately 300 out of over a million. I want to correct these so I can merge the csv data into a uniform format, and then upload it into a database. I created ...

Re: Text to columns?

I'm pleased to report in version 14 using Edit-Split Cells and pressing the space bar worked perfectly for what I wanted to do (for anyone reading this later, obviously any character could be used in the box to split the cells, I just needed the space to do this). Thanks for the update, this program...

Re: Linking Tables

Is there an update for doing this in v. 11.7.6? I looked for the specified help file and did not see anything about a vlookup2. I'm trying to link the record numbers field for two tables, and then run a query (which appears to be another issue) so I can copy & paste results into a spreadsheet. T...

Text to columns?

I am trying to split date/time data in a column. It is formatted as MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM. I need to split it by the space so time is in a new column. In other programs, a "text to columns" feature is available. Is it possible to do so with GS-Calc? I have read through the help section and do n...

Re: SUMIF function does not appear to work in 11.7.6, copy c

Thank you for the detailed reply. The fact is I only need to do a total of 5 of these files, and they will never be increased as they are historical data. The above looks like a lot of work and the opportunity for more keystroke errors, my typing skills are not the best. I have a good template down ...
