Excel dates

Post by oblivion »

Does GS-Base have a function to convert serial dates (as found in .XLS date fields after import) to usable date fields?

I expected the date() function to work, but it doesn't seem to, and I can't find anything else that can handle them...

It's the "Edit > Convert Field Data > Serial Date Number to Standard Date Time String" menu command. (You may also need to change the field type from Number to Text.)

The date() function uses three parameters (year, month, day), not one. In general, this conversion can be automatic provided that the used predefined date format pattern in the Excel file will match one of the predefined date patterns in GS-Base.
